Eliminate dead zones in your workplace — Action-Priority is a certified Cel-Fi installer

Poor mobile phone reception in the workplace is more than an inconvenience — it's a productivity drain and, in some industries, a genuine safety issue. If your staff are stepping outside to make calls, missing calls in certain parts of the building, or relying entirely on Wi-Fi calling because the mobile signal is inadequate, a Cel-Fi mobile signal booster is almost certainly the right solution.

Why do buildings have poor mobile reception?

Modern building materials are the primary culprit. Energy-efficient glass (with metallic coatings), reinforced concrete, metal roofing, and insulated wall systems all attenuate mobile signals significantly. A building that looks transparent from the outside can be almost opaque to mobile radio frequencies. Multi-storey buildings compound the problem — lower floors may receive no signal at all, while upper floors have adequate coverage. Underground car parks, basements, and internal meeting rooms are almost universally affected.

What is a Cel-Fi signal booster?

Cel-Fi is an Australian-designed, ACMA-approved smart signal repeater. It works by capturing the existing mobile signal from outside the building (via an external donor antenna), amplifying it, and rebroadcasting it inside the building via internal coverage antennas. Unlike older, simpler repeaters, Cel-Fi uses smart amplification technology that prevents interference with the mobile network — which is why it's the only type of signal booster legally permitted for use in Australia without a carrier licence.

Which networks does Cel-Fi support?

Cel-Fi makes boosters for all three Australian carriers — Telstra, Optus, and Vodafone/TPG. They are carrier-specific, meaning a Telstra Cel-Fi will boost Telstra signals only. If your staff are on multiple carriers, Action-Priority can design a multi-carrier solution using multiple Cel-Fi units. We can assess signal levels for each carrier at your site and advise on the most practical approach.

Installation process

A Cel-Fi installation typically involves mounting the external donor antenna in the location with the best available signal (often a rooftop or high external wall position), running coaxial cable to the booster unit, and distributing the signal internally via one or more coverage antennas. For a single-floor office, one internal antenna typically suffices. Multi-floor or large-footprint buildings may require a more complex distributed antenna system. Action-Priority carries out a site survey before installation to design the optimal layout.

Industries where Cel-Fi makes the biggest difference

Cel-Fi is particularly valuable in warehouses and distribution centres (large metal structures that are notorious for signal problems), medical and healthcare facilities (where communication reliability is critical), hotels and hospitality venues (guest experience depends on connectivity), multi-storey office buildings, and underground or partially subterranean workplaces. If your business falls into any of these categories and you have mobile reception issues, a site survey is worth arranging.
